Join Anna Bastiaan of Anna Victoria to make a gorgeous silk brooch in our gorgeous workshop space. 

A few words about Anna Victoria

Anna Victoria Bastiaan is a mixed-media artist based in Melbourne who works out of her home studio making textile-based artworks. While Anna’s creations are predominantly based around the use of fabric and thread, she draws on a variety of material types, embroidery techniques, embellishing materials and even paint/illustration to create her pieces. Her work is often inspired by nature and the world around her and embodies a sense of whimsy, magic and a love for the long-lost slower pace of life.

Silk Flower Brooches Workshop

In this workshop, Anna will guide you through making a stunning botanical brooch using silk, velvet, wire and beads. She will teach you an array of clever but simple techniques to create volume, depth of colour and texture in your piece. The end result is a soft and sculptural rose bloom brooch – inspired by old-world florals but with a fresh, contemporary feel.

You’ll learn how to shape and stitch petals, embellish with beads, add embroidery and sculpt leaves with wirework so your piece has gentle movement, texture and life. This workshop is suitable for all levels, and a wonderful opportunity to see how even simple techniques can be used in new ways to craft an organic piece of gorgeous wearable art.

Class price includes all the materials you need to make the brooch, with a variety of colours to choose from. Anna will also bring additional kits in a variety of colour ways to purchase on the day.
