This class (over three sessions) will give you the skills to be able to machine piece simple quilt blocks and introduce you to needle turn appliqué and hand quilting.
Over three classes you will learn:
- what notions are required ( and how the right notions can make all the difference),
- how to cut fabric,
- simple machine piecing, and
- some hand embellishment techniques, specifically needle turn appliqué and hand quilting.
By the end of the classes (and with some practice at home) you will have made a Vintage Orange Peel Cushion.
1st class: Introduction to necessary notions, fabric selection, fabric volume and colour balancing. Work on some simple block construction.
2nd class: Block construction - by the end of the second class you will have made blocks from simple squares, half square triangles and flying geese.
3rd class: Hand Work - learn how to needle turn appliqué allowing you to elevate simple quilt blocks.
Class requirements:
- sewing machine and any sewing supplies you currently have. You will need a rotary cutter, cutting mat and quilt ruler.
- fabrics can be gathered from your own supplies or purchased in store.
All recommended notions are available to purchase in store,
Pattern is included in the class cost.
Any purchases made on the days of the classes will receive a 10% discount.
Class size is limited to four students allowing plenty of time to get the help you require.
